Description

In similar form to the John de Lancie and Discord picture I drew recently, I finally finished my drawing of Lauren Faust and her Fausticorn. Lauren has inspired me in so many ways with her animation and writing, so I owe her a lot.

EDIT: I decided to just go ahead and put the letter that I had written for Lauren as well since I didn't get to give it to her in person. I did get to read it to her over Skype though! ^-^

Lauren,

Thank you so much for all of your hard work over the years. I want to personally thank you for giving women a voice in animation, as sometimes we're not taken seriously for the things we create. You have truly inspired me not to give up, and that even though things are moving away from the hand-drawn era, I still feel like I have hope while watching shows with your wonderful art style.

Your writing and ability to develop characters that have such relatable personalities means a lot to me as well. The My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic episode “Suited For Success” is where it all began for me. When all of the things start happening to Rarity, as well as her responses to the situations, my Mom and I just turned and looked at each other. That's when I knew, I'm Rarity. I actually sew plushies, hats, and design clothing as well, and so many of the things that have happened to Rarity I can easily relate to. Funny enough, my Mom's the Applejack in our family. I love that I can have something to watch with her that's fun, exciting, cute and just makes us both so happy, even when we're feeling as low as you can possibly feel – MLP is what perks us right back up! You might not be there now, but you're who gave us this wonderful series. Let me tell you, as one of the old school fans, we needed it! Thank you for bringing us out of the slump of Generation 3.5. *shudder*

I've said thank you in this a billion times already, but I truly can't thank you enough for brightening up my life, and for giving people of all ages a show like this. Everyone needs to learn these life lessons, no matter if they're 5, or 85. In fact, my 84 year old Grandmother loved watching the show with me as well before she passed. It's something that spans generations, and will for years to come.

You're a true inspiration, and we're all so grateful for you!

Best wishes,
-Rio McCarthy
